Manchester Geek Nights

This page is about GeekNights held in Manchester, organised by ThoughtWorks. We hope to provide a forum for discussion and dissemination of ideas, technologies and techniques in the field of software development. These events are open to the public, but the venue does require a list of names in advance, so please register for each event you’d like to come to.

News

The 2012 programme is starting to take shape; I’ve posted up the dates where the speakers have confirmed, and I have a few more offers in the pipelines - thanks to people who have offered to speak, both from Thoughtworks and elsewhere.

  • Thanks to everyone who came to the Scala in practice geek night with Pat and Marc; here are the slides.

Slides and code for Jan’s Scala kickstart talk from before Christmas are available from the Cake solutions team blog.

Thoughtworks is recruiting!

If you’re passionate about software development, and would like to work for a global developer-led organisation that feels the same way, we are looking for talented developers, business analysts and project managers; for more information see the Thoughtworks website

We moved in May 2011

See the section on our (not quite so) new venue below.

The New Thoughtworks Manchester Office.

The address is:

 18th Floor
 City Tower
 Piccadilly Plaza
 Manchester, M1 4BD

view map

  • It’s basically the big office tower on the South side of Piccadilly Gardens (next to the tram stop and bus station). The entrance is directly opposite the bus station, which is an atrium which goes all the way through the block; once you’re inside, reception is on your right (if your coming from the bus station end).

As long as you have registered reception should be able to direct you to the lifts and then up to the 18th floor.
